Can a country with one of the lowest levels of life to overcome the phenomena of "social orphans"?
Only the children know what they are looking for...
"The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
"I want to issue a decree that would give the opportunity to awaken the millions of people is a sense of responsibility to encourage the adoption of very bold, courageous and noble decisions about adoption of orphans", - said a few years ago, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. Since then, the country has new important dates - Adoption Day (September 30), joint Day of Action for Children, which is traditionally celebrated on the day of adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (20 November), the year 2008 was declared the Year of National Adoption...
The significance of these "red days" perfectly reflects statistics: in Ukraine today, the number of orphans and children deprived of parental care, exceeded to one hundred thousand indicator. In this year in shelters misses 20 thousands of newcomers. But there is a good news. Ukrainians have become increasingly adopt and constantly fighting for leadership in this business with foreigners, and in recent years the number has exceeded the number of adopted orphans. However, children's homes and boarding schools are more crowded. A non-governmental organizations are more ironic about the fact that, according to official information, in Ukraine there are queues of adopters.
Post-Soviet modernity believes in the next wave of so-called "social orphans", and the direction of such children in boarding schools - the least efficient way to solve the problem. System of special educational institutions is not effective from an economic and socio-psychological perspectives. And the most importantly, that decades of its existence created a large gap between the world of children deprived of parental care, and the world of "normal". Most people do not take orphans as normal children and believe that adoption is a "cross", a feat that under force units.
However, there are in Ukraine and many skeptics in relation to the activities of patrons. According to them, the child needs a family, not the goodies and toys. President of financial - industrial corporation «DMS» Andrey Alyosha, who helps an orphanage in one of the districts of Donetsk for almost 10 years and is the father of three sons , said that the main thing lies not in the form of help, but in the motif. "Everything that you do from the heart is good for children", - said the businessman. "Man cannot be forced to be a patron, adoptive parent or guardian. It is a personal choice, which should just come".
Ukrainians should be helped to come to that choice intended the law on state support for families adopting a child from the number of orphans, which provides financial assistance. Today, however, the country needs effective mechanisms to solve the problem: a simple and transparent procedure for adoption, real control over the existence of a new baby in the family, child protection from criminal intent or selfish motives of new "parents". And, most important, people overcome disassociation from the special world of orphans.
Patrons' activities, according to Andrey Alyosha play a significant role in improving the system of education of children deprived of parental care. Especially that today there appear educational programs for orphans, they open personal savings accounts. "I think it's better than cash incentives of those who fathered. First, support is provided directly to the child, and secondly, quality education and a certain material base will help graduates of boarding schools more quickly and confidently adapt not to infrequently hostile world of "ordinary people". Besides, being a parent - is a calling , you can not buy with the money for adoption, as well as a natural desire to care for the child ", - says Andrey Alyosha.
Equally important is the qualitative organization of educational and leisure time of children: it requires effort from teachers, discipline from the wards, but the result worth it. "A child does not choose what family to be born at, they do not decide whether to stay with his parents or not. But society must do everything possible so that the child was ready for his own choice when the time comes. Including a choice of how to be a parent to him", - said Andrey Alyosha.
The best way to education and self-discipline is the responsibility of the sport. That is why the Donetsk regional federation of hand to hand Fighting that brought up not one world champion and recognized as the best in Ukraine , created the "Knowledge, health, strength ". As part of its implementation in schools and shelters opened in Donetsk free section on fighting, where he teaches mentors Champions. "Skeptics have accused us that we are"arming" complementary skills and so unreliable children", - says Andrey Alyosha , who is also President of the above Federation. "However, our task is not just to teach the art of hand-to-hand fighting, and discipline, and the ability to set goals and achieve them, to bring the child an understanding of why they need it - to protect themselves and those who are weaker opposition aggression."
Now financial and industrial corporation «DMS» prepares its players to stay in the Crimea, and to the question about the crisis, its president, says: "There will always be barriers: the economic crisis, more important things to do... However, we must hurry to do good things, because life is very fleeting. By the way, about the crisis. Do you work to give his family the best, despite the difficulties. But now to your father joined the little people who also need your support and care. Everything is simple"- said Andrey Alyosha.
