At the very beginning of 2021, workers of the Ukrainian Locomotive Company completed repair and conducted rheostat tests of the 2TE10U mainline locomotive.
Rheostat tests are a diagnostic procedure in which the voltage of the diesel generator is redirected from the traction motor of the locomotive to a special installation (rheostat), which allows recording individual parameters of the generator's operation.
The given technical manipulations are standard. Their purpose consisits in:
- running in the repaired diesel generator;
- setting up the electric circuit of the locomotive;
- checking the performance of power and auxiliary mechanisms that ensure the normal operation of the locomotive.
Mainline locomotive 2TE10U has successfully passed rheostat tests and is ready to go online.
